Hey People
Welcome to a new Saturday and a new Raw and Real, where every week, we speak about:
1 Raw and Real conversation about life
2 One-liners (because they are sassy!)
3 Gratitudes (because why not)
Let’s go:
Life lesson on clients, money, saying yes, and saying no
I have 4 rules of work, that I have applied in every job I have had, every agency we have worked with, and every client I have dealt with:
Treat people as if they are your partners (and not agencies, agents, juniors, clients, etc.) It will bring that tonality of conversation that makes things happen
Never expect them to make changes you suggested, urgently.
Doing good work is important. Being clear while getting good work done is also important. If you fail at either, you fail at both.
No one is your slave. Everyone has their dignity and respect. No one has the right to rob them of that.
This means, anyone who does not do that to me, is respectfully told to be respectful.
Doesn’t happen in a lot of cases, but has happened in quite rare cases. Mostly when I have made the mistake of not trusting their vibe.
A lot of people just get irritated at this misbehaviour, and tolerate this, because they think:
“Why so?”
”Why not just tolerate?”
”Isn’t this what spirituality teaches you?”
Spirituality teaches you to be nice, but it doesn’t teach you to be a doormat.
And the ones who are spiritual, know that for every Santoshi Maa, there is also a Durga Maa and Kaali Maa.
The version you ignite, is the version you get.
Of course, please be nice.
Give them more than they pay for.
Let things be lose when they are not very well mentally.
Be the nicest, kindest, most loving, caring, and giving person you know - in your professional life as well.
Along with it, please also know that at the end, it is all about knowing the difference between lack of respect for people and lack of respect for processes.
While the latter is to be solved for, the former is intolerable.
You teach others how to treat you.
- Oprah
Teach others how to treat you. Starting with yourself.
2 One-liners:
The biggest pandemic in the world is not obesity, Covid or nuclear war. The biggest pandemic is loneliness.
3 Gratitudes:
Spoke to one of my closest friends after months. Even though it was not planned, both of us got our much-needed therapy :)
Had reduced my quantity of dinner some 6 months back. Halved it again. Never felt lighter :) (PS: Don’t follow this blindly. Please listen to your stomach and do what’s right for you.)
Went for an outdoor walk 6 days of the week. Win :)
That’s it, ladies and gentlemen.
An update: Today, for the first time in months, I am going out on a Saturday. Have been working non-stop at least 6 days of the week. So happy :) (even though it is a work meeting lol)
On that note, see you next Saturday.
PS: Whenever you are ready, here is one way I can help you:
