1 Raw and Real Conversation
The commencement speech of Roger Federer has taken over the world by storm.
Everyone from top executives to beginners, are sharing what they reflected from the speech.
Especially the mind bogging number (which even I was shook over by — btw I got to know that number through social media before I watched the video itself) of winning 80% of the matches but only half (54%) of game points was so much of a life lesson in itself.
But today I want to speak about something else:
The Wimbledon 2008, which Roger Federer lost against Rafael Nadal, he mentioned that Rafa won the first two sets, followed by Roger winning the next two, and the game went on for 5 hours before Rafa won it.
Here is the interesting thing Roger mentioned: I did not lose the game at the end, I lost the game in the first set itself. I looked at Rafa, and believed him so much that I stopped believing myself and my accomplishments so far.
Ladies and gentlemen, this was Roger Federer who missed his 6th consecutive win at Wimbledon just because he believed someone else more than himself.
For some reason, I found this so much more effective than 54% points win in 80% wins.
You need to believe yourself. Period.
Unabashedly.
Confidently.
Undoubtedly.
And close your eyes on EVERYTHING that does not believe in you.
Yes, please be practical. Do not burn all you have and depend on others because you are busy “believing” in yourself. However, so many of us depreciate ourselves so much every single day, that when we get out into the world, we are almost “certain” of being criticised.
Don’t do that, my friend.
Be your own best friend.
And the biggest cheerleader.
And the only person who will make the impossible possible because what you have done already is the biggest proof of self-belief.
It almost reminds me of a 50+ CEO I work with. She (when I said CEO, you visualised a male, right? :)) is building her third company, after building two hugely successful companies.
And she says with pride: “We are building India’s most valuable company.”
This is the level of insane confidence you need to put into yourself. No one is going to do it to you, for you.
That is the level of belief you need to exude, so it almost becomes impossible for others to not rub off from that.
That is the level of faith you need to carry, because on one is going to do it for you.
Only you. ONLY YOU, my friend.
2 Raw One Liners:
Share your concerns. You will either have them solved. Or have useful information.
The people because of whom you are depressed with, don’t even remember what they did to you.
3 Real Gratitudes:
Red Fort. Went there for the first time yesterday, despite living in Delhi NCR for 9+ years. Pretty marvellous architecture.
Early morning waking up. We are built when the world is asleep after late nights.
Breezy days. Some days, it is not as hot as it used to be. I think we ought to be grateful for it, especially since most people are complaining about the heatwave.
On that note, thank you, all you wonderful people :)
Please don’t forget, treat yourself on my birthday, by getting any (or ALL) of my ebooks at a 30% limited discount.
