Raw and Real conversation
When I used to work in a corporate, I was returning from an office party in Gurgaon back to my home in Noida.
I usually sleep at 9.30pm, and because that party was an important one, I stayed for some time, left at 9 pm, and due to low traffic on the weekend, the cab said I will reach home by 10.05. Not bad.
Except, the cab’s tyre got punctured on the DND Expressway.
Not only punctured, it burst!
For non-Delhi people, the Delhi Noida Direct Expressway is a 59 km long highway connecting Noida to South Delhi, from where you can go on to take your route to Gurgaon.
It is literally at the intersection of Delhi and Noida, and nothing but the movement of vehicles happens there.
You can’t even book a cab there, because, hey, it’s a highway!
So the only thing I was left with was to be patient, at my bed time, with my father calling me incessantly to confirm him that I have reached home — to be patient with the car driver changing the tyre.
My phone and the internet connection was basically of no use now. I had cash but of course, there are no empty autos as well, there.
Which is where spirituality helped me.
In spirituality, we are taught that you do not have to run away from this world and go into a jungle. All you have to do is be a force of nature, be a strong person from within at all times, and when the situation demands (like it did to me in the middle of DND Expressway), you will be strong and stable.
So, I radiated vibrations of peace and positivity to the car driver, who was changing the tyre.
I told my father that I was stuck in unexpected traffic (because, bro, Gurgaon!) because telling him the truth would only make him worried.
And above all, I started being grateful for all the good things in my life at the moment — I had phone to call up any friend to pick me up (I didn’t, but the possibility existed), the cab driver was fortunately not a simp, I had cash just in case an auto came over, my 5-year old iPhone still had ample battery, I could breathe the night air which was a fun segue from the warm summer afternoons, and most importantly, I knew I was a good and strong person and God is with me and only good things happened to me — all the above things fell in place.
After ~30 minutes of me having that night air and the cab driver at work, we finally ventured into Noida, and reached my place in the next 15 minutes.
It turns out, sometimes, you have everything on the outside, but the only thing that can help you is your mindset.
Yes, it is important to take care of your safety, but once you have done that, it is also important to take care of what goes into your mind every single day. So that when there is the time to be brave and bold in extreme situations at Delhi-Noida border, you don’t lose your cool. You just breathe in the air cool :)
Raw lessons of the week:
There are people who believe in you far more than you believe in yourself. Believe in yourself. That’s it. That is it.
Your opinions people most disagree with, are the ones they agree with, when alone.
The only solution in life is listening, reading and watching very uplifting content.
Real Gratitude of the week:
Evening walks. The spring. The intersection of sunset and a little bit of cool warmth in the air. Please do yourselves a favour, guys, and go for an evening walk in the park, even if it is for 10 minutes. Those will be the best 10 minutes of the day, my friend.
Make the best of it before spring just goes away!
PS:
This month’s e-Book of “How To Deal With Heartbreak” has started attracting reviews even I hadn’t thought of. Do get it/gift it to someone who needs it :)
